Our values begin with the idea of giving back: We pledge, from the beginning, to donate 15% of our profits to charities of the highest caliber.
-
Revealing Consciousness: Our work is motivated by the belief that consciousness is not limited to humans; that certain animals possess remarkable levels of consciousness that science will likely uncover the mechanics and qualities of as methodology, funding and creativity advance. We believe that a still or moving image - when carefully developed - can help viewers see the consciousness and curiosity in other species, and uplift viewers in the process.
-
A position of spirituality: We do not promote any religion, but promote the idea that people, and life in general, can achieve greater harmony and prosperity by considering that we share an experience as forms of life on earth. This position is informed by Transcendental Meditation, Buddhism, Pranic Healing, and both western and eastern philosophy. Relatedly, Natural connections images are made on the premise that there is a universal (cosmic) consciousness that unites all life on earth to some extent, and that by using our medium of photography to depict that spirit in other life, people can broaden and strengthen their connection to life. We believe that photography can reinvigorate or begin one's spiritual relationship to living.
-
Modesty: We aim to take the work of enhancing people's connectedness and consciousness seriously. We also aim not to take ourselves seriously, knowing that any endeavor, no matter how ambitious or potentially successful, is ultimately a tiny dot in the grand tapestry of life. It is an honor to simply work toward transporting people to a happier and more emotionally connected state of living.
-
Perspective: Most importantly, our images aim to give viewers a fresh or novel perspective (in both a literal and metaphorical sense). A new perspective has changed lives, and it will again.
